We are trying to find info on columbia mobile homes. In existance in the late 70's. We bought property in 1993 with a columbia mobile home. It was incorrectly appraised as a stick built home. Now that we want to refinance we need to get the manufacture date, that is not on the tag with the vin and manufacture name. If we can not find this info what are our options????

When they are asking dates...They want to know if the home is a HUD certified manufactured home...built after July 1, 1975 or a mobile home built prior to that date...

If it is a HUD home..it will have HUD seals on the outside of the home..on the long sides..about 8 inches from the bottom...mounted in the area near where the tail lights would have been if it were moved (away from the hitch end)...If these seals are there..It is a HUD certified home.....

It could actually be a modular home..is which case the original appraisal was correct...Most likely if the company was called Columbia MOBILE HOME..It is not a modular...and not even likely to be a HUD home..meaning it was built prior to mid 1975..

The county tax records should be able to tell you when the home was first placed...often they have much details in the records..

If it is a pre HUD mobile home...financing options are limited..
