hey roy,

i'm in need of your help again. my wife and her mother just purchased a small, but seemingly profitable, mobile home park in northeastern NC. i have not been able to get into any of the 15 homes that we now own, but i do now that most of them are CONNER HOMES. both 12' and 14' wide from the late 70's and early 80's. being more acquainted with GA mobile homes, i dont know much at all about CONNER. who were they? where did they manufacture these homes? they seem to be VERY popular in NC. is there any way to get a hold of the blueprints and layout designs? im sure we have A LOT of refurbishing to do, but after all, that is my past time. please forward me any info you can, greatly appreciated.

Wallace Conner was one of the largest dealer/manufacturers in the industry in the SE in those times...

Conner made the largest impact in the VA program..and had dealerships close to the front gate of every military base in the South...He pioneered the "we own the bank" marketing program...he actually did own 2 savings and loans...

He started in NC and grew from there..he did have a plant in GA..Thomasville, GA...It operated under the Connor label for about 2 or 3 years..

Conner's demise came at the last downturn in the industry...Sometime around 1986 ot 1987...I doubt you will be able to get any info about the home...They have been out of business almost 20 years..

Conner's headquarters was directly on the coast in North Carolina. The homes were sold in the coastal area, so were constructed to what we would call wind zone II, today, however, they were built prior to the 1994 revision of the code. I've owned several as rental units, and they are well built and easy to maintain. Not a lot of eye appeal, but basic construction. Good Luck.
