buying a home; credit problems

I am interested in moving to atlanta to further my education and get a better paying job. I have 3 children, ages 17, 12 & 6. I want an area that offers a homely atmosphere, at least 3-4 bedrooms, approx. 2000+ square footage, and under 200,000.00. My credit is in need of help. I need some guidance in how to clean up my credit, and prepare a smooth move to Atlanta. I don't know anything about Atlanta, so I'm trying to do my homework on researching the huge area. Please let me hear from you on where do I start? And what should I do now to buy my dream home in the very near future.
