Duke Power Company requires a total of R-60 as an agrigagte of the floor, walls and roof insulation..
Most commonly manufacturers will use R-30 roof, R-11 walls and R-22 floors to make this requirement..If you live in SC..the government will lower the 5% sales tax to $300 if you have this designation..All homes at any store that are in SC or deliver regularly to SC will have this in all of thier homes....
Duke power also requires insulated exterior doors and at least storm windows to qualify...If you want real energy savings ask your saleperson about an Energy Star home...See
www.energystar.gov
OSB wrap has now insulating value..thermopane windows have the same efficiency rating of the storm windows..
As far as saving thousands over 20 years...one would have to know what you are comparing it too...remember if you are in SC..Every homes you have seen has the same...
