Hip Roof

Thanks for the replies to our previous post.The check list is especially helpful in making useful comparisons between homes.
We have found that Horton now offers a "hip roof" design of home. It looks like what in this area they call "hurricane roofs" on stick built structures which supposedly better withstand extreme wind.Is there a structural advantage to this type of design on a manufactured home or is it merely cosmetic and a new form of one upping the competition on eye candy?

Several manufacturers offer a hip roof. It alters the appearance, and appears to be stick built, and is the most wind resistant, as it funnels the wind hitting the end of the home, up and over.
