Plant Tours

I have read different peoples experiences with plant tours. This bothers me when the one i just read was talking about the many misses into studs with a nail gun. I am worried about just how much is just passed thru the line and excepted as is. Has anyone ever toured the Crystal Valley plant in Indiana ? I am considering buying a Crystal Valley home but even though they seem to be well built are they just rushed down the line like a lot of the rest ???

Out here in Oregon, the Karsten plant invited me in to inspect as my house was being built, and answered any question I had, for example: Our entrance is recessed - where does the water that lands in there go to? (Answer: there is a sheet of EPDM rubber underneath the carpeting/transom. I believe I got good - not perfect,of course - value for money. I really believe it would depend on the plant, and it would be nice if the plant were to invite you in when building your house.

Make a trip and see for yourself..This is a major purchase and a 1 day trip is not too much too invest..

We were considering a Commodore (Virginia) modular after a great deal of research. Called the factory and requested a plant tour -- was told the dealer we were working with had to call and arrange it and bring us in! What's up with that? Not many dealers want to have someone give up a day to drive 120 miles one way unless the customer is already financially committed.
