In a previous post you indicated that problems with this type wall are "Rampant".

As my wife and I are considering this option, could you please explain these problems?

Thanks

The only two problems with tape and texture
is the delivery and the foundation of the house.
There are usually always cracks, breaks ,rips etc when the house is moved from the factory or dealer to your location. This is expected and is repaired when the initial set up of the home is completed.
If your home is not on going poured footers,a slab,or some other kind of solid engineered in ground foundation do not go with tape and texture. As soon as the house starts to settle cracks and breaks will appear in the sheetrock. That is the reason theres so many problems with T&T.
Dealers and factories do want to be responsible for your choice of a foundation.
Regular 1/2 T&T drywall looks soooo much better then the 1/4 inch stuff with ugly prints and strips in the seams though.Make sure you spend a little extra on a good foundation and go with T&T.You'll be glad you did.

I know that some manufacturers do the taping after the house has been set. All houses settle to some degree but I agree that the foundation of any home is very important.

Mr. Fry's answer is exactly correct...Since problems are usually caused by the foundations...manufactuers do not want to promise anything about the preformance of the walls..since they have nothing to do with the foundation...

One should read the set up manual closely and be sure the foundation meets every aspect required by the engineers who designed the home...If you do..you should have little problem..
