How practical is it to add another floor to an existing manufactured home. My home looks very similar to the one on the top of the website. My home also is on a foundation not a slab and the floor made with steel beam construction.
Is it possible to find prefabricated additions through a manufactured home builder? i am in Michigan and would love any recomendations.
please advise.
thanks,
Derek

Nor very practical.
Many MF homes are not built to standard building codes so they would not support the weight of a second floor(either thru the studs in the wall or the foundation). If your home is built to standard codes(16 inch 2 by 4 or better centers on wall studs, floor joists 2 by 8 or better on 16 inch centers)it might be possible. There are no loadbearing walls in MF homes other then the outer walls and marriage walls so this would always be a problem. One would also need the home to be on poured concrete footers. You would have to hire a contractor experinced in MF home renovation to look at your home and give you an idea.I would not recomend it.
