furnace repairs

Post by rosalind barnhart » Thu Mar 06, 2003 5:35 am

we purchased this new titan in 1995.
we have had continual furnace problems since the very first year.
would really like to know why, and how to correct issue.
first yr. the whole furnace had to be revamped and was paid for by manufacturers warranty to the tune of 1000 dollars plus.
we have our propane supplier service blanket but it is always the same part. ignition module. even though we live in a very wintery region good heavens.
last week it had to be replaced agin to the tune of 180.00 dollars.
between high fuel cost and repairs what is a senior citizen supposed to do. please any answers you can come up with would be most helpful

thank you robert and rosalind barnhart

Often furnace problems are not created by the furnace, but by other factors.
Is the furnace getting the proper return air flow?
Is the circulating motor being kept clean? This is an " air over " motor, meaning that the same motor blowing the warm air, also cools itself. It must be clean to facilitate this process.
Do you have an air exchange system, Positive Operating System, or Ventilaire?
Is it functioning properly, or restricted for the fresh air exchange.
You may need to have a qualified repairman check the system, as opposed to just replacing the part. Good Luck
