I was going to upgrade to the overhead vent registers until I started thinking about the Thermal Graduation. In the home I'm getting, it has vaulted ceilings throughout the entire home. So, if I get overhead duct work installed, I do not think that will be very efficient in the summertime. Say, air enters the home via the AC unit at 65 degrees. It's 100 degrees outside, the space (R-30) between the shingles and ceiling has got to be really cookin', and the duct work for the AC is run through this oven. See what I'm driving at? Am I correct in this theory?
Tell me what you think
Thanks
Brian
AC/Heat: Overhead vs. Floor Vent Registers
Re: AC/Heat: Overhead vs. Floor Vent Registers
Heat rises and cool air falls, base you decision on this. It is less efficient to heat from above especially if you have vaulted ceilings.
Re: AC/Heat: Overhead vs. Floor Vent Registers
Base your decision on 2 things.
Do you heat more or cool more in your location?Remember vaulted ceilings in MF homes aren't all that high.
2.If you use a heat pump go with overhead vents.
