How does one find the manufacture date to assure the home is movable within a county restricting older manufactured homes? I know the manufacturer was Brookwood and the VIN is 24bggfs1673, is there anywhere on the web to research VIN's as there is for cars?
Thanks.

Thanks, but the county only knows the year and not the month. They go by the license number and don't know how to interpret the VIN. Our county code changed as of 6/15/76, so I need to know month and date.

Actually they are probably reffering to the HUD code that came into effect on 6/15/75....All 1976 models were built on or after this date...If your home has a small red lable attached to the outside on the front door side near the end that would have the tail lights...it is HUD certified and should meet the code...Good Luck

The date of manufacturer is listed on the data plate inside the home. Look in the master bedroom closet, or the reverse of a cabinet door. In the 1976 era, many manufacturers placed them in the furnace compartment.
