Insulation baffles were incorrectly installed laying on top of the insulation, not enough insulation in the attic.
Closets are Sauna’s in the summer growing mold and condensation, in the winter very cold.

Local building codes, add more insulation to the attic. Consider using fiberglass batts, spray foam, or blown-in insulation to achieve the recommended thickness.

Baffles should be installed properly between the rafters to allow airflow from soffit vents. Right now, they are likely blocking ventilation by sitting on top of the insulation. Reposition them so they create a clear channel for air to flow from the soffits to the ridge or gable vents.

Wow, that’s a tough situation! Proper insulation could definitely help with the heat and cold problems in those closets.

Without proper air flow from the soffit vents, heat and moisture can get trapped in your attic, leading to mold growth and discomfort in adjacent rooms like closets. In the winter, those same areas probably get very cold because of heat loss.

To address this, you should consider properly installing the insulation baffles to ensure airflow and prevent moisture buildup. Additionally, adding more insulation in the attic can help regulate temperatures, reducing mold growth in the summer and keeping the closets warmer in the winter.
