VIN or serial number help - need to sell

I own a 1989 double wide in New York state. I'm the 4th or 5th owner. I need to sell it now, but the buyer's bank needs information - the HUD tag number, vin, serial number, something. And I have nothing. I've searched all the places these items should be, with no luck. The place has been remodeled, re sided, all kinds of changes over the years with different owners. I've paid a contractor to rip off the semi permanent skirting - twice - to look for something on the frame. We did find some incredibly faint numbers, and got excited when we were able to make out 5 or 6 of them on each frame, with one ending in A and the other ending in B. My realtor was certain that sending these partial numbers to IBTS would be enough for them to look up the information we need, but they weren't able to help. When I bought the home, it was on a land contract - so this info wasn't needed and I never knew it existed until now. I've reached out to the town and the county, and they're unable to help. Am I stuck owning this home forever, or is there another way I can get this information? Would DMV be any help, even though the home is too old to have a title?
