I have a single wide that had a fiberglass cottage style door on the back and we went to Mobil Home supplier and we bought a Cordell door. it seems to be a lot heavier. Do I need to do anything other than put the door in like any extra supports Underneath the trailer for the door?

It's a good idea to reinforce the area where you're installing the heavier door. Adding extra supports underneath the trailer can help prevent any sagging or structural issues over time. You might also want to check the framing around the door opening to ensure it's strong enough to handle the additional weight.

You should check the existing hinges and door frame for strength. If they seem weak, consider replacing hinges or adding L brackets for reinforcement.

First, ensure that the existing door frame can support the extra weight; you might need to reinforce it. It’s also a good idea to check the hinges and possibly upgrade to heavy-duty ones for better stability. Adding extra supports underneath the trailer could help distribute the weight more evenly. Lastly, make sure the door is properly aligned and sealed to prevent drafts. If in doubt, consulting a professional can help ensure everything is secure and safe!

Yes, you may need to add extra support underneath the trailer to accommodate the heavier Cordell door.Snow Road Have you checked the weight specifications of the new door compared to the old one?
