Hello,
I am renovating a 1973 Silvercrest and would very much like to know
whether I will have a problem due to weight of Granite /Quartz
counters ( its a large open kitchen). AND whether I can also add Ceramic / Porcelin flooring.
Thanks SO much for any help on these two issues
Emily
Granite counters and ceramic floor tiles
Re: Granite counters and ceramic floor tiles
Look for the weight of a square foot of granite and multiply out the size, and compare with the weight of laminate counter. If it's significantly bigger for granite, look for laminate counter that has the look you want. Check out Corian and other materials as well if the weight of granite's just too out there.

Re: Granite counters and ceramic floor tiles
Granite and ceramic both make sturdy, long-lasting, classy choices for flooring. Granite can be considerably more expensive. Granite is a natural stone, some people see this as a sophisticated, high-end look. Ceramic tile comes in an array of colors, finishes, patterns and styles. Granite probably requires more regular maintenance than ceramic, but ceramic tiles might not last as long.
