Recently, my grandson and his friend started to take out my dilapidated deck. When they demolished the portion of the deck attached to my house, Surprise! there was an area on the inside of the deck and on the house that was charred, and water damage/rot on the house from where the deck had been sitting all these years. I contacted my insurance company with the hope of getting help, but that was a waste of time. Now, I'm faced with not only replacing the deck but how to repair the dry rot before I do it. Would someone please tell me how to do this? My grandson and his friend will be doing the work because I can't afford a contractor. Any help I can get will be extremely appreciated.
