roof load
Re: roof load
I had remembered seeing this floor plan of these homes. I thought you would like a link. It is sales literature of a 1960 Pontiac Chief...Your daughter might like a copy...Find it here;

Re: roof load
Drywall is likely way too heavy for this home. The ceiling is likely attached to 1 by 4's only. Rmurray is right, if after 6 years the walls are holding up, don't worry about it. The floors are usually a bigger issue when adding a shingled roof, but they may have been adequately supported.

The Trusses are 2 x 4 and I was going to attach metal 7/8" furring strips perpendicular to the trusses to be sure the dry wall has support every 16". Thank you for your response

Re: roof load
The 2x4 trusses were almost certainly a retrofit to hold the shingle roof.

Re: roof load
How did you find something like this.? I'd love to find a layout for our 1985 Goldenwest Double Wide.
THanks

Re: roof load
I had just remembered I had seen this before...After I found I no longer had a favorite URL for it saved, I searched www.Bing images and Google images for the name of the manufacturer..The image was still in Flicker were it was originally stored and used in a web page that was an archive of old antique sales literature. A 1985 is not old enough to be a classic yet. I tried a search but the term "Golden West" it returned hundreds of images..I did find some floor plans from them on Google images but I am sure they were much more recent..I did find a number of pictures of 80's model Golden West homes. Most were posted in for sale ads..Try a few image searches yourself on image search engines...
