Overwhelmed and where to start???

We are looking into purchasing a small lot in Paso Robles, CA area and putting a Palm Harbor home onto it. The PH dealer in our area is BJ Sales, a subsidiary of Pacific Home Sales, a multiple-location dealer with HQ in San Diego area. The sales rep at BJ's said they have a local contractor who handles site installation, and foundation work (ours would go on a permanent foundation). I didn't ask who their contractor was, but if we decide to go with BJ's I would definitely ask that, ask for their CA state contractor's license, and research them through appropriate local agencies before I signed any kind of purchase agreement. I'm wondering if it's appropriate or helpful to contact the Palm Harbor factory in Oregon, where BJ's gets its units, and speak with someone there about the reputation of BJ's and/or Pacific Home Sales, with regard to customer satisfaction and ethical business practices? Other suggestions? (Already checked our Pacific Home Sales through BBB; BJ's is not a member of local Chamber of Commerce.) Thanks!
