Manufactured homes are factory-built homes engineered and constructed in accordance with the federal building code administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The HUD code was established in 1976. The HUD code has very specific roof requirements that are designed to meet local conditions in each region of the country. If your home was built after 1976 you local building permit office should be able to make their determination depending on the HUD requirements for the year your home was built That is not to say that they will

In recent years we have seen many local permit authorities adopt a policy of making the applicant prove known factors. In my humble opinion, this is an effort to step away from any possible liability involved in issuing a permit. By insisting on an engineer's involvement the permit authorities are able to absolve themselves of any liability and put it on the engineer.

Redman was purchased by Champion Homes a few years ago. You can contact them by submitting the form at http://www.championhomes.com/contact-us.
