lost title

I just bought a mobile home off a person with no title just a bill of sell. he said he bought it that way. i tried going to the dmv they said they don't keep records past 10 years and they don't have a title for this mobile home. i live in Harrisburg PA is there any way i can do a title search my self. or is there a way i can obtain a title. any help would be helpful.

Why do we keep getting this question? NEVER BUY A MANUFACTURED HOME WITH OUT GETTING THE TITLE TRANSFERD INTO YOUR NAME

Find the seller or a lawyer. Figure out which one will cost you less to negotiate with to you get out from under this sale and get some of your money back. In some states selling an auto or manufactured home with out a title is at least less than customary and at best against the law.

Often titles are retired and the home becomes part of the deed. Ownership transfers with the deed of the property. NEVER would a bill of sale actually transfer ownership. Either a title or deed transfer would always be necessary. Mr Brown did not mention if he bought the land under the home or not..If he bought the property and home as a package, I assume that he did a complete title search to determine ownership and that they were dlear of liens..
