I had my Skyline doublewide setup in 1991 and had very few problems until a few years ago. Some things I think could have been a better quality material and that is not really a complaint because I guess it lasted for almost 20 years.Where I really think there is a legitimate complaint is in the craftmanship in putting everything together.I started having a problem with the roof leaking and when I climbed up to look at the problem I couldn't believe the poor quality of the vent flashing. Also the installation of the shingles was really poor, there was rows that was crooked and not aligned right and exposed nails driven through in many places.I'm really surprised that it didn't leak from the very start. The shingles were guaranteed for I think 25 years but it wasn't the fault of the shingles it was the installation.

I moved your post to a new thread as the one you posted to was about floor problems.

I am not a defender of most builders but Skyline has been a leader in quality and customer satisfaction for 35 years. After 20 years even the best of roof installations will look quiet different than it did the day it was shingled. That the roof lasted the full 20 years is a credit to the builder.

I am in Florida and because of the heavy doses of sun here, if a 20 year shingle least 15 years it is almost a miracle. I put the roof on my home 18 years ago and used 30 year shingles. I also need a new roof today. My roof looks very different today than it did the day we finished shingling it.

Most shingles used by Skyline and other builders are 20 year. Most 20 year shingles don't last 20 years (most 25 year shingles wont last 25 years). The year ratings indicate optimum conditions. Not too much sun, not too many leaves, not too much swing in temperatures... etc etc...
