cutting a midline interior post to widen a door

Post by denstrailer » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:20 pm

1974 24x60 coach. i am widening a door perpendicular to the midline and my installer cut 2 the the 4 2x4 posts which were together on the midline to install the door jamb. Is that going to affect the stability of the home or the support of the roof? This is the same question as my last posting but may be easier to understand. PLEASE HELP!

As long as you increase the thickness of the header beam and support its ends so that it can carry the additional load there should be no problem.
