Rotting floors

Post by Larry Kosloske » Sun Nov 23, 2008 10:54 am

I have had my air conditioner coil drip pan spring a leak, the floor around the front of the unit and the area in the hall and bath have started to disintergrate under the linoleuem and the flooring has started to bubble up and rot, this runs under the closet wall and the wall to the bath. A heating company said that the furnace and air coil has to be removed to change the drip pan, at that time I would like to repair the flooring in the area, can I repair this without having to have any special tool or equiptment? Do I have jack up the walls somehow to replace the floor under the walls or what? This is a single wide 16x80 Redman home, at one time I was told by a MH sales rep that there are no load bearing wall in a MH, is this true or will I need to brace up the ceiling to remove the flooring?

Search these forums for previous answers to flooring questions with links to articles that will help you..Sounds like that sales person should have explained the pitfalls of press board floors. Replacement is possible in this complicated area but will be a big job..
