Did Vindale Corp make modulars as well as doublewides? I am representing a buyer on a unit that no one seems to know if it is a modular or a doublewide. It was built in 1982. On the data plate is the number C3166B Code 400 Type 8 x 14.5. Is this a modular? Please help.
Thanks,
Tommy
Modular Homes?
Re: Modular Homes?
Vindale did build modular homes.....and manufactured homes.....What does the seller say about the house....Where is the data plate you mentioned.....Modular homes will have a label on or near the electric box..."Data plates" are usually associated with HUD code manufactured homes....What state is the home in?? Is there a metal frame under the house??? Does it have or was there a title on record with the state...What does the local tax accessor call the home????...The characters you mentioned on the data plate...mean very little except the C3166B sounds like 1/2 of the serial number...Is there a Red HUD label on the exterior of the home.....You might want to go to this site for examples of the various labels and plates involved...

Re: Modular Homes?
The seller says this is a modular. The tax card says it is a modular. There are features that resemble a DW though. It has a steel frame under it. Some of the interior has DW features and some modular. The unit is located in Virginia. Does not have a title although I'm not sure if it ever did. It is on a permanent foundation. It has new vinyl siding around the exterior. It has a fireplace on an exterior wall. The data plate is on one of the steel cross members under the unit. I personally have not seen the data plate. This information was provided to me by the listing agent.
