want to put in a back door

Post by patty » Sun Mar 18, 2007 7:25 am

We have a 1993 Fleetwood and realize the poor quality of the house but would like to put in a back door since there is no outlet to the back yard. Who should we consult about doing this and is it possible if we want it through a blank wall. Can they just cut a hole through the wall? Will it cause massive problems with leaks and cracks and such? any advise would be great.

Inorder to install a door, where there is none, a few problems will be encountered. There will probably be wiring running thru the side wall that will have to be dealt with, and the new opening will have to have a header installed to provide the proper roof support, and a couple of studs will have to be moved, to accomodate any door with a rough opening greater than 32".

Thank you for your input. My husband mentioned this too after I posted on here. He said there is probably wiring all through that wall and I don't know if it's worth dealing with. I guess the side door will have to do for now. Thanks again.
