insulation

Post by jcshore7917 » Sun Aug 06, 2006 1:22 pm

I have a 2000 Redman DW and was just wondering if there is a way to put more insulation in the ceiling, without tearing it up. All the ceilings are pitched.
Any info regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Assuming you purchased the home new, there was an insulation certificate furnished, indicating the amount of insulation in the walls, ceiling, and floor. If this is not available to you, there is information on the data plate that will allow you to factor the amount of insulation in the home. That being said, in order to add insulation to the ceiling, first there must be space, and secondly there has to be holes to blow in additional insulation and still maintain the required 1" of space for ventilation in the attic cavity. If all these conditions work out, the home could be opened up at the ridge cap, and then by removing the first piece of decking to provide access to the cavity. The first piece of decking is usually a small piece added at the top, after the full pieces are installed.
