Tub P Trap

I am installing a tub in my garage bonus room up stairs. The waste lines were run when the garage was built. However the 2" drain for the tub is between the celiling and ustairs sub floor. I have cut out a rectangular hole to access this 2" PVC line. I understand a 2" p trap has to be installed. My question can the p trap be installed anywhere on this horizontal 2" line under the tub. I have a second question also, but I will ask it later on your reply.

Yes, any place in the line should provide the same flow.
