Roof Pitch

Post by Wendy Humphries » Wed Nov 30, 2005 5:55 pm

I am considering buying some land within a land development area; however, it requires the pitch of the roof to be 4x12. I am not sure that my 2002 Redman Moon 28x64 foot mobile will fit this criteria. Can anyone advise me if this mobile has that pitch? Please respond asap. Thank you very much.

If you bought a stock or standards roof line when you got yours..It most likely is NOT a 4x12 roof pitch..Redman would have been standard with a nominal 3x12 roof pitch...Does your roof seem to go up higher than thew others in your neighborhood..If so it might well be a 4x12...you can measure it your self to be sure....Go to the end of the home..measure the distance from the top of the inside wall ( you have to measure out side..to the top of the peak of the roof..A 4x12 roof will go up about 5 feet....If this is hard to do..call a professional and ask...

The formula is Rise/Run: how much rise (4") for a given run (12"). You can do this with two rulers. Make sure one is parallel to the ground, put one corner of it on the top of the roof, and measure the distance to the top of the roof from the other end of the ruler - like a triangle. That distance must be 4".
