Danna-hold off a bit. The Manufactured/Modular housing show is in Des Moines the first weekend in March. It will be at the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Go east on Grand Ave and you run right into it. There will be both types of homes out there. Go through them all and then decide. But my money is on Wick. I made the mistake of buying an off brand home and I won't do it again. They have a neat plan called a library modular that they had out there last year. There will be financing people out in the home as well, so you can get information from them. My dealer's name is Lisa and she is a really neat, on the go person. There will be lots to see and do there, so check it out before you make any decisions. Thanks and God Bless!

2x6 walls allow R-19 insulation..R-15 is the greatest available for 2x4 walls..

Danna - Have been in both a Wick and Design home. Both very nice and sturdy. Visit the Design Home factory at Prairie Du Chien, WI to see how they are built and to look at on site models. We have a large Wick garage and like it. I would always put a modular home on a basement.

I am looking at purchasing a modular home to replace my hurricane damaged homes. I am familiar with the on frame off frame. Some residential nieborhoods do not allow manufactured homes, and I was told on frame would not be allowed either. I am interested in knowing if you supply homes to Florida. If so I would like to get pricing from you.

Manufactured homes are built to the HUD building code..it is a performance code that does not specify what materials to use to achieve the performance requirements.....

Roof trusses can be made of anything..that makes it strong enough for your area...many homes have trusses with 2x2's.......These will have enough strength to serve the purpose in most areas....
