I have been looking at Skyline homes in the Kissimmee Fl area and wonder if anyone could advise as to their quality. Most price range seem to be in the 75,000-85,000 area. The dealer also said they can be built in approx 2 months. He also said they would reqiure a 50% downpayment to order with 25% on delivery and the bal 25% after inspection, does this downpayment seem out of line? In addition to price of home, site prep package, driveway, shed and screen room would run about 25,000-- this seems a bit high?
I asked about plywood floors and he said they use that but when checking skyline factory tour on net they refered to Novadeck. Would appreciate any info anyone has with Skyline MF homes and their dealers and service Thanks in advance.

Re: Skyline homes
I also have been researching Skyline homes. The factory in Ocala only uses plywood decking and they do drywall there only. The tele # is 800-733-5111
I talked to a dealer in Lake Wales today and he told me it is taking 7 months to get a home from skyline.
I want a manufactured home that does not look like a railroad car and I like some of their floor plans. Wish I could see some. I'm not good with just floor plans.

Re: Skyline homes
I bought one of their MH about five and a half years ago.
It was the biggest fight of my life.
I had a dealer that would not stand behind it.
I had a manufacturer that would not stand behind it.
I was lucky enough to find a person who was an attorney and worked at the HUD office in Wash. D.C..
Only he was able to get the house brought into HUD Code (joke).
I immediately sold it.
I since bought a Redman Manufactured Home and have lived in it for about eighteen months.
One minor service call and that has been it.
Check things out.
My experience with Skyline found that the dry wall wass less than one half inch thick, was not finished as in a stick built home, instead the factory literally rolled (unrolled) paper over the less than 1/2" drywall.
As for NOVA Deck - It is without a doubt the absolute worst material that man has ever made. They can seal it all the want, but if a repairman cuts or nails into the material, the seal against moisture is broken.
I had that problem. The floor got wet from the water line to the refrigderator, which was not re-connected properly by the repairman.
Needless to say the Kitchen floor was more like a kiddie roller coaster than the flat, smooth floor that I bought.
Skyline refused to replace this damaged NOVA Deck.
