When purchasing an older mfg. home, how old is too old?

Post by Rita » Sun Mar 27, 2005 10:21 am

I am looking at a very well maintained mfg home on a lot in a mfg home community. The home is a Signature and was mfg. in 1971. From inspections, it looks to be extremely well maintained. Is this too old a home to consider purchasing in 2005? What is the projected/expected life span of a mfg home that has been well taken care of?

Thank you .......

A 71 is a preHud home which means its construction is more then likely of sub par quality. However if you're not in the Southeast or the snow belt it probably hasn't or won't see any severe weather. If the price is right it could be a good deal.A home that old on the east coast in a park is worthless.Your area of the country might demand a better price.i would get a home inspector to check it out.
