1973 Hollypark Mobile Home

Post by Rusty » Mon Sep 27, 2004 9:21 pm

I have a 1973 14x65 Hollypark mobile home -- model #FLDGMK214 -- in a mobile home park. This was the first home put in the park over 30 years ago, and I am the third owner of this home. It is in excellent condition inside, with some minor work needing done on the outside (painting). Can anyone tell me what price woudl be reasonable to sell this home? I have an interested buyer, but am not sure what the home is worth today. I would also like to know the book value as well.

Value of a home like this is all local and condition...The NADA book does not go this far back...because condition and local conditions are so important..

This was the Best of the Best in its day..Built by the Amish in IN...great skill and care went into every one...They sold in FL..with ft. from IN for about $8995...A fortune in 1973...twice what the average home sold for..

This home should still be a good home for the buyer..you and him/her will have to come to terms you can agree on..Good Luck

Thanks for the reply.

Since I posted the original message, I have learned from a manufactured home dealer in KY that the book value on this model is $16,083. I found this very hard to believe, given the age of the home. But again, it is in great interior condition, with me being only the 3rd owner and the home has never been moved from its original spot.

I have decided to hold onto my home a bit longer due to the equity that is in it, and am considering other options at this time.

Be careful...these books do not buy homes or lend on them...It is very irresponsible of a dealer to give a "book" value without an inspection of a home this age...As I have said..value is all location oriented....this home could well be worth this money..or could be worth less than $3000....All depends on the local market and weather the home had to be moved..

Your were right to be skeptical...You have a great home..which would be hard to replace in the current market....enjoy it..

Thanks for your thoughts....it's always helpful to get a "second opinion" on financial matters, and I appreciate your thoughtfulness...
