Dry Rot

Post by Byron Mays » Sat Sep 18, 2004 6:12 pm

I have a 1984 K&B manufactured home that has a 4x4exposed entry to the front door (on the corner of the house). I was in the process of replacing the indoor/outdoor carpeting on the entry way with 12" sq. tile when I found the 2x6 perimeter board had dry rotted on the bottom. I've never done any structural repair on a MH, so I don't know how it is attached to the frame and the best way to replace it, any suggestions?

Thanks

The rim joist is not attached to the frame. It is a matter of providing support on both sides, and the appropriate floor joists, then making the repair.
