My husband and I are retiring. We have a 1995 Dutch Doublewide that is in a park. We are looking for some lakeshore property to buy and would like to move our home to this property. The distance would be approximately 100 miles. The lakeshore property would have to be set up with all utilities (water, electric, gas, etc.). Would it be to our benefit to move our home, or would it be more beneficial to sell our home and rebuy?
We still have a $50,000 mortgage.
Thank you.

Re: moving our manufactured home
Most areas of the country where a home is in a park you won't get your money back out of it it.With a 10year old home and owing 50 K it would probably be better to move it.You can't borrow money on a home on rented land, you can with one thats on a permenat foundation and deeded with the land.I can't see you getting enough out of in its present location to even pay the remainder of the note.
