Adjusting Cost?

Post by MrsWWonka » Thu Aug 12, 2004 1:29 pm

Hi, We are planning a move from So. CA to AZ. I have recently started looking at Modular homes and one that we were actually able to see in person was SilverCrest in Corona. My problem, I saw the BIGGEST one first! The M19 is perfect for what we need space-wise, but we would need to make some changes, which I am working on the floor plan myself. My questions is :
Everyone tells me that SilverCrest is the Cadillac of homes, so is it cheaper to take their base floor plan, make the changes on paper that I would need, and then go somewhere else to have the home built the way we want it? I can't afford all the bells and whistles, but at this point, can't find anyone to tell me what the actual bells and whistles are. The retailers don't want to tell me what "options" or area of the home make the price so high, so that I can adjust to what we need. I understand that some price per sq ft, but from what I can tell, this house is atleast $10.00 per sq ft MORE then another model that they carry. My mother loves the M19, especially the kitchen and I would love to be able to afford to get this house for her and set up the way we need it, but can't seem to get anyone to offer suggestions as to how to go about it... if its possible. I guess what I'm asking for is a Cadillac body with a Hundai motor :-)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
