I have been reading Randy E. book.He suggests a 2X8 floor joist. I havent seen any comments here that reflect this. Most MH that we have seen have 2X6. What is the opinion here? Thanks.

We ordered 2x8 floors in our Marlette, up from the 2x6 from a previous home and it made a ton of difference in our opinion. MUCH quieter and stronger. And the dealer said it was overkill. Bologney! We won't go w/less.

the reason is that most manufacturers only offer 2 x 6 floors is that the HUD code allows more floor deflection than typical model building codes.
Thye HUD code allows L/240, other building codes are\somewhere around L/380
