I'm contemplating buying a MH, but I've looked under the sinks of a couple and seen some funky looking plumbing. It will work fine, I'm sure, but if there's a problem I need to fix I'm not going to find the replacement parts at my local hardware. Anybody aware of a brand that uses conventional materials that are used in a stick built home? So if a pipe bursts I can run downtown and get some 1/2 inch pvc, a couple fittings and some glue and have it fixed?
And what about electrical? Is that stuff all standard ie 14-3 romex and normal receptacles that can be bought at the local store? I don't plan on tearing the place apart but something ALWAYS goes wrong ...Thanks!

Re: Repairs
I am not sure what kind of "funky" plumbing you have seen...but most manufactured homes have...pvc..cpvc..or Pex plumbing...(Pex might be the one you are calling funky looking)...All readily available at Lowe's or Home Depot...Most Pex lines come with 25 year leak warranties..
Most homes are built in such a manor as to allow standard repair parts readily available form local building supply places...This might not always be true...but should be a feature that you look for...
Try the bookstore here and buy one of the books about manufactured homes..they are a wealth of info on construction techniques and talk about materials available in some homes...
