100 amp or 200

Post by jeremy » Thu Jun 17, 2004 11:51 pm

Hello again I have another question? in regards to a 100 amp service compared to a 200 amp service. Right now the MH is wired for 100 amp, i am wondering if this will be enough for the normal items that we will run in the house, AC, washer/dryer, hot water heater etc. Some people are telling me it will be enough and some are telling me no. Now if I will not have enough I will have to rewire a new service in. Anyone have suggestions, I don't want to spend alot of money if i don't need too.

thanks

If you have gas heat and stove...100 amp is all you need...

A caveat to Murray's reply. This also assumes your husband doesn't was to hook up his welder, air compressor, woodshop; hook up a super spa, or goes nuts at Christmas time with a zillion lights. LOL!

P.S. Don't holler, Murray, I'm just rying to make the boards a little more fun to visit..... :)

100 amp is not very common now...you are right if you want to add lots of circuits to the inside box...most hook ups add another box to the exterior of the home..on the home..on a pole..or on an underground hook up stand...this exterior box should be 200 amp for future use...

200 amp service especially if you think you'll be adding some sort of garage or workshop at some point too.
