paint preparation

Hello, I painted my bathroom in my home yesterday and when I went to remove the painters tape, the paint came off in big strips. I used a semi gloss latex.I did'nt think the wall covering in the bathroom was vinyl (did'nt feel like it). I want to repaint, how should I prep the walls to make the paint adhere? Thanks so much for your help.

Try using a good primer like Kilz. I just painted my entire home and used two coats of primer and two of paint it worked great.
