Our winter has wrecked havoc on the vinyl skirting this year, worse then ever.
Would digging a trench and filling it with pea gravel keep this from happening?
If not,any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Buckled skirting
I hear you on the winter woes! I tried pea gravel around my shed skirting last year. Did it work? Not really. Ice still heaved the gravel and the skirting. What helped more was reinforcing the skirting with extra stakes driven into the ground. Have you tried that?

Re: Buckled skirting
I've definitely been there with warped skirting! Last year, a particularly harsh freeze caused similar buckling around my foundation. While I didn't try pea gravel specifically, I did research similar drainage solutions. Ultimately, better insulation under the house and ensuring proper ventilation seemed to make the biggest difference for me. It's frustrating to deal with, but hopefully you find a fix that works! When you need to unwind after tackling house repairs, something simple like Block Blast can be surprisingly relaxing.

I’ve dealt with a similar issue with vinyl skirting after harsh winters. Digging a trench and filling it with pea gravel can definitely help with drainage, so your idea makes sense but it might not fully solve the problem on its own.
Do you notice a lot of water pooling around the base?

Hey Doug, sorry to hear about your skirting woes! That's a real pain. Pea gravel might help with drainage, but depending on the soil type, you could still get frost heave. I've seen some pretty creative DIY fixes online – almost like architectural dreadhead parkour to navigate the uneven ground, haha. Seriously though, search for "vinyl skirting repair frost heave" on YouTube. There are tons of clever solutions you might find helpful before going full trench. Good luck!
