I have a mobile home I purchased in 2002. There was no title. I need the serial number to get new title. I have HUD lable, no data plate anywhere, and I believe the serial number on the crossmember isnt clearly visable. So far I have seen 1 letter and 6 numbers. How many digits are in the serial number. Also are there any other ways to get title. I am in Tennessee. I am told I have to track down previous owners and/or place ads in local papers. I want to sell the mobile home but cant without title. Any help is appreciated.

The Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS), as the Department of Housing and Urban Development's monitoring contractor under the Federal Manufactured Housing Program, has been the sole source of this data since 1976.

The data IBTS maintains comes from manufacturers' production reports. Your HUD labels numbers can be used to determine the serial number.
