Palm Harbor
Palm Harbor
I am considering purchasing a Palm Harbor home built at the Siler City plant in North Carolina. The home is a 95 model DW. Does anyone have a Palm Harbor built in this factory around this time? Your input would be appreciated.
Re: Palm Harbor
I have setup and serviced several Palm Harbor homes. these homes were built in
Plant city Fla or Boaz Alabama. i do not know about the ones made in the Siler City plant
but based on the ones i have worked with. i conclude this.
i have worked with 12 different types of homes
1. they use very good materials
2. the people who build the homes are very good at what they do!
3. they are in the top 3 of best mobile homes made!

Re: Palm Harbor
It is basically the same story, they may be well built{which is still in question} but there service is poor, poor.
Re: Palm Harbor
It is not very helpful to any of us to hear that service was poor with out letting us understand the events that led up to your opinion.
We have heard nothing but good stories about Palm Harbor's products, service and customer relations in the past.
What was the problem. How did you go about requesting service and what was the results?

Re: Palm Harbor
Haveing followed all the steps in obtaining help, many phone calls to dealer and factory, their repairs that they came out and made were useless. I agree the Palm Harbor is a very pretty house, as it should be with all the extras they put in, of course you pay for all this. All the problems with this house were poor workmanship from the factory. From what I have read on this site, there is no reputable company. You take your chance with any of the mfg.
Re: Palm Harbor
you said that palm harbor is one of the top 3 mobil homes. What are the other 2, and why do you say mobil homes instead of manufactured?
What is the difference.
What is the difference.

Not a single person has told us what is actually wrong with their Palm Harbor or what steps they took to get correction...
All these type of entries do is blow off steam... bad mouthing, but saying nothing ... give us some real details

Re: Palm Harbor
palms look good and may be built well. BUT when they set it up the problems start...I had an factory trim out by palm included in my purchase..these folks are fly by night with usually one of them having worked at their plant for a short period of time, which leads the others...PROBLEMS from the factory...all white vinyl floor started an blue fading from the underside (wrong adhesive used at the factory) said they would replace and did twice with cheaper thinner floor covering..(still bleading threw(out of trimout warranity)it takes about 2-3 months to show up..there is an hump in the center of the livingroom floor about an 1/2" now,(THIS IS AFTER THEY TOOK HAMMERS AND CHISELS AND CUT OFF THE OTHER 1/2"off the top layers of plywood ..their first trimm out man, seamed the carpets, after dooing this butcher job..(BUT DIDN'T STRETCH THE CARPET) it looked terrible besides..the second crew had to try to fix his mistake in the carpet..they found his butcher job on the floor, and had cut back the 1/2" padding and spliced in 1/4" paddind in the elevated hump area trying to even out the carpet buldge in the center..they also had to use the thinner padding in the raised hump area.their slice didn't match up,looked terrible..i insisted on replacing the carpet ,on one of their manny trips to back ,they brought back some of the cheapest carpet i had ever seen...(AGAIN>>>THIS IS ALL THAT THE FACTORY IS USING NOW)..the home had cracks in the sheet rock in the living room, dining roof and around back door...they patched at these 3 times and 6 months later cracked out again! the boards on the front poarch were splitting when they delivered it.THE POARCH also had to be replaced..(it is still ok)most of the molding around the doors and ceiling is coming loose and cracking in the corners.STILL SQUEAKY FLOORS IN THE 3/4" tongue and groove plywood floors..kitchen cabnets are cheap and shelves bow after time...rods, shelves in the closet fall down, come loose from the walls.. thy made about 10 trips over an 4 month period, to my home, they weren't allowed enough time to complete the first problems, before other problems arose.. each time they would stop by their factory 60 miles away, pick up their supplies and drive here starting work between 11am. and noon, then would have to leave about 3 pm..this is normally done on monday to friday...this is alful inconvienent when you are paying someone to sit with the house waiting wile i'm working...in my opinion after the sale they dont care..i'm living in an 5 year old TOP OF THEIR LINE, HIGH END HOME..that has needed all of the floor covering replaced since it was new..the carpet seam is about worn out..the vinyl is curling on all of the edges..these is vinyl adhesive turned yellow around most of the base boards strips they installed trying to keep the edges from coming up and curling.SIGN ME NOT AN HAPPY CAMPER!!!!!AND NEVER AGAIN........
