We're semi new owners and we're wondering what (if anything) is in the center beam of the house? Is it possible to hang something of a fairly good weight from it? i've tried finding some pics of what the beam looks like before having the drywall put over it but have been unsuccessful.

The center line of your double wide is made of 2 sections... one from each half of the home. What it is constructed from depends on the builder and the year of construction. Visit the local dealer that sells that brand of home or contact the nearest factory of the builder. You can find the latest updates of all HUD code builder plants across the country at the Manufactured Housing Yellow Pages

Your center beam could be anything from 2 x 6 lumber, or larger or maybe microlam engineered beams, or made from mutiple lawyers of glued up plywood. Bottom line, the manufacturers don't build these beams heavier then they need to.So to be safe, DON'T HANG ANYTHING FROM YOUR CENTER LINE BEAM!
