upgrade on shingles

Post by James » Thu May 18, 2006 2:47 am

I am purchasing a new Horton 27x56 doublewide....we have gone over many options and of course, one of them is the shingels.

Is it worth the cost (approx $850.00) to upgrade to the architecturall shingles? FYI: I am not upgrading the roof pitch.

Architectural shingles are not necessarily better unless they have a better warranty. Your money would be better spent on a shingle with a longer warranty period.

Just my thoughts on this as I am no expert. After Hurricane Rita we installed a 30 year shingle and surprisingly it wasn't that much more expensive. And no it is not an architectural shingle.
