Is it normal to hear noise from the heating ducts when the furnace is running, I think I remember a thread on this before. Anyway I hear a popping noise in the floor in various places when the furnace runs.

That's likely the ductwork - I hear that when my furnace starts and stops.

The changing ot temperature leads to the heat duct expanding and contracting. if the heat duct is not allowed to flex a little, it will pop.
try removing the staples where the heat duct riser is attached to the edge of the floor decking and cut a little slot and renail it. it might help.
