Kitchen cabinetry - Will not perform

Post by Pat Carter » Tue Oct 04, 2005 7:40 pm

About 9 months ago, I was interested in having a nice pantry cabinet (wood) installed in my Skyline Greenbriar 1999 home. I contacted both Home Depot and Sears only to be told they do not work at all on Manufactured homes (Wash State is where I live).. That was a major disappointment, which then made me wonder just HOW poor is the structure in these homes that contractors will not want to work on them??

I am guessing that there are some cabinet companies out there that will do an installation, but not as economical as I could have had with either the Depot or Sears. Very disappointing. Has anyone dealt with either store on Mfd home renovating? Thanks.

Yes...our dealership often uses Lowe's to install hardwood floors...additional ceramic floors...even improved front and back doors..sometimes a sliding glass door....Talk to the store managers about your feelings....Installing cabinets is simple and not dependent on the basic construction of the home.....

I installed the Mills Pride kitchen cabinets in my 1979 MH. Bought them from Home Depot. They are really nice cabinets for the money. It sounds like Home Depot is not really interested in subbing out a small install job. I suggest you buy the cabinet you like and find a reputable handy man to install it. Shouldn't be too difficult. I also live in Washington state and have spent a lot of money at Home Depot purchasing home renovation materials for my house.

Thanks to you both; points well taken. I guess it pays to go into the stores rather than phone also.
