18 Months ago my wife and I decided to buy a less expensive ' way of life ' . After selling travel trailers for years, I found one that stood out from the rest.
Following my hopes and dreams of having another MH ( something we started with in the 70's ) , we decided to purchase another MH.
I don't even pretend to know where the problem lies, but I do know, we never had a single problem with what we had in the 70's.
Now , that HUD is in the picture, maybe they should get some of the blame for the horrifiing materials used to build todays MH.
I've discovered the " Dr. Jekyle and Mr. Hyde " of the industry: _SKYLINE_ ...
If the MH were one tenth as good as the material, costruction, workmanship, and especially warranty, ( as in their Travel Trailers ) , This WOULD BE the best home I've ever owned. But NOT. To say the very least, I can no longer support a corporation which has dealt me the pile of dirt that I have ended up with; and to think of the number of Travel Trailers I sold for their corporation - It won't happen again. I WILL NOT sell ANY product from a corporation that has a lack of respect for their MH buyers.
BUYER BEWARE . Wish I had bought one of the 40 foot Travel Trailers to live in, rather than the pile of s____ I got.

Should have looked at a Palm Harbor. I have a Skyline dealer up the road that spends tons on decorating. Buyers often are tricked by the appearance and it is a shame that such homes are being sold. Our homes compete and excell above the entry site built market here. Resale is key and the factors that affect resale are cost of ownership, efficiency, and material. You get what you pay for. We aren't cheap....but we are the best built.

I'm looking through the HUD code for electrical and other areas. So far I don't see where electrical wiring is allowed to just dangle down in the wall cavity. With (maybe) 3/8'' wall board, I also guestion the 50# push/pull test ( to see if the electrical box stays put. So far with what I have seen of the HUD 'exemption' code for MH, I think I'll continue looking only at 'site built' homes, Thank you......

Palm Harbor, Is a very expensive piece, of oh my look what we bought, We will be the envy of the whole mfg. talk of the town, Yea Right, don't be mislead they are way to pricy for sure, You will pay 65 k for a 35 k home, And the sales pitch turned us off, Look a Hurricane got all but ours, I refuse to belive it especially a Palm Harbor, Where did they get this name ??? How about this for a name, Balsa Wood River ? that sounds more like it, As you can see We hate them, We have 2 friends that went this route, And the wish they would have bought a 4 room tent,
