I found a brand new manufactured home 1,200 sqfeet for sale. It was manufactured as a class project by the local high school students. I would like to buy it and install on a lot in my city. I am looking for advise on how to start the process and what are the necessary steps. I am assuming I need to find somebody to transport it to the desired location first. Are there specialized companies that do that? If yes, how can I find them? Would they be responsible for any damage during trasportation? Second, what deprtment in the city I have to check with in regards to the codes and things like that. Also what kind of contractor I need for the fundation? What kind of money I would be looking at?
If anybody can help, please drop me an email at [email protected]

Re: Advise needed
First of all, you are talking about a modular home, not a manufactured home. Since the school built the home, they probably build one per year, I would ask them how to transport it. They certainly have this info.
AS for your city, every city is different, call city hall, talk to the zoning officier and code officail.

I am a homeowner in Iowa. There are lots of options depending on your location. You can contact a mover in the yellow pages or get referrals from any of your local housing dealerships.
Get a reputable mover who has a lot of experience. I wish I had listened to my park owner and had their guy move this one. It would have been done better.
You will also need to find some heating/ac contractors as these are not in most modulars. Manufactured homes have them inside already.
Modular homes hold their value nicely, so you should be fine. God's best to you!
