Can anyone tell me ,if they were to purchase a new manufactured home today (hud) which home would they select if money was to be considered as well?

Perhaps it would be easier if I was told which homes to avoid. Will be placing it on a piece of private property here in Michigan. Want it on a basement and a step down model. Vaulted ceilings and full drywall.

We now have a Hart home 32x80 and its a fairly good home only 2 years old. Our biggest complaint with this home is the floors. It seems that they squeak and pop and need attention with clips under side etc.

Will a perameter wall help on the next model? Would a modular home be that much more cost wise and would it be a much better investment? On our existing home there are 8 cross steel beams under the home. Can these beams be removed after the home is setup? Of course I realize it may need a center beam and some jack posts. I won't tell you which manufacturers to avoid, but know this:
To avoid problems, make sure your home is a perimeter frame home (designed for a basement set).
Your home was designed to be set on piers and retro-fitted for the basement. that prohibits proper anchoring of the home to the foundation.

Every home is a good buy for someone...You have to make a careful search of those available to you in your area...and be sure you are dealing with dealers that are experienced with basement placements...

It would be best to buy a home with the proper frame for basement placement..Since you are already buying the most expensive part of modular set up..you should consider modular homes as well...High quality manufactured homes can be just as good a home...but mods should not cost a whole lot more once you are already going to buy the basement...
