water charge

A friend of mine owns a double wide and has lived in the same park for 6 years. Initially the water was free. then the park advised her (about 2 years ago) that there was going to be a city hook up. That never happened. Now the residents are charged $30.00 for well water and sewer. The water is of poor quality so the residents generally don't drink it. Is this a rather common practice or is this park making rules as it goes?

Its a common practice. It doesn't make much difference if they charge you a flat fee such as $30/mo for water and sewer or just raise your space rent by that amount, unless you use a lot more or a lot less than the norm. In that case you either get a partial free ride or help pay for someone else's fare as the case may be. In any case the amount is small and reasonable so quit being so persnickety. :~)

Sorry this response is more than 6 months old, but i was just reading thorugh these posts, and I really have a hard time comprehending DOCs' reply. Excuse me, but paying $30.00 a month (I am assuming it is a monthly charge) for water that I am not able to drink would be a legitimate beef for anyone to have. To call it persnickity is just plain offensive. If you knew when you moved or bought there that you would be charged that is one story, but to be told you would be getting city water, be charged for it, and then not receive it is just plain wrong. On this spectrum, I have city water and sewage where I live, and I get charged the same for sewage, with 2 people living in my house, as the neighbor does with 10 people. Our water is metered, but the sewage charge is a flat rate. I didn't know this initially, but is one of the surprises that some times happens. I haven't a clue aobut what you can do about the charge, but for some one to say that you are persnickity is just plain wrong.
